After finishing my first marathon in New York City in 2017, I knew that experience wasn’t the end. It was the beginning. My running journey had started in June 2016, and by 2018 running had reshaped my health, discipline, and mindset.
I chose the New Jersey Marathon because it was home. I lived here, and my second son was born in this state. This race was about accountability and growth. Training was quiet and focused. Winter miles, long runs, and learning how my body responds beyond mile twenty. I wasn’t chasing speed. I was building endurance.
On race day, the course was calm and honest. My training showed up when it mattered. Alhamdulillah, I finished with a personal record of 4 hours and 40 minutes — a 24-minute improvement from my first marathon.

The finish along the New Jersey shore and seeing my family waiting made every mile worth it. This race confirmed that endurance grows when you commit quietly and show up consistently.
